Alex Trebek’s widow Jeanne on her philanthropy and legacy

His widow talked to Guthrie about life since she lost her husband of 30 years.

“I completely have moments of waves of grief that just come over me,” Trebek said. “Still, really disbelieving that he is – that he’s gone. I miss him a lot.”

He also discussed his devotion to charity.

The couple helped fund a new homeless shelter for the Charity of the Valley in Los Angeles that now bears their family name.

“He loved representing underdeveloped countries, communities,” said Jean Trebek. “You know, he really wanted to be a spokesperson for the Dalit.”

He said that his desire to be very public with his cancer diagnosis increased in an effort to help others.

“I think one of Alex’s gifts was that he could be very firm and to know that the truth would not hurt you and that he would give people inner strength, inner dignity and understanding whatever challenge they faced in life. Wanted to empower her to move forward with it. ” Love, “he said.
