The show’s producers and distributor Warner Horizon and ABC Entertainment confirmed to CNN in a joint statement Tuesday that the longtime “Bachelor” franchise host is exiting the show.

“Chris Harrison is stepping down as host of The Bachelor franchise,” the statement read. “We are grateful for his many contributions over the past 20 years and wish him the best of luck on his new journey.”

“I made a mistake and I own it,” said Harrison, who also said, “I plan to come back and I want to come back” which made him famous.

Harrison has hosted “The Bachelor” and its various spinoffs since 2002.
