Daft Punk are splitting up after 28 years
Catherine Frazier told CNN that there were reports that the pair were retiring, but it was true that there was no reason for the split.
The Grammy Award-winning act has been known to use computerized vocals and wear robotic headgear in public and in all of their music videos. He began the week by sharing a particularly cryptic video, titled “Epilogue”.
In the eight-minute film, Duo – Thomas Banglater and Guy-Manuel de Homme-Christo – are seen walking in the desert in their signature space-age helmets and leather jackets.
One of the pair unbuttoned his jacket, revealing a detonator on his back. The second presses a button on the detonator. His partner leaves, and eventually explodes.
Formed in Paris in 1993, Daft Punk is credited with bringing the French underground house scene to the charts. He is considered one of the most influential electronic acts of all time with hits such as “Da Funk,” “One More Time” and “Around the World”.
In 2010, he made his film score debut for the sci-fi film “Tron: Legacy”.
She won Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo / Group Performance at the 2013 Grammy Awards, along with retro-disco single “Get Lucky”, featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.
