Luke Combs apologizes for past use of the Confederate flag
Followers on social media reported that when he appeared in the music video for Country Star Ryan Upchurch’s “Can I Get an Outlaw” in 2015, he was in front of a Confederate flag. He was also using an acoustic guitar with a Confederate flag sticker on it.
“As I have evolved in my time as an artist, and as the world has changed drastically over the last five to seven years, I now realize just how painful that image can be,” Coombs said Wednesday Said to “I would never want to be associated with anything that would hurt so much for someone else.”
During the talk, Coombs said he hopes to “learn” and “get better” in the future.
“I know I’m a very visible member of the country-music community right now,” Coombs said. “And I want to use that situation for good, and that’s to say that people can change and people want to change, and I’m one of those people who are trying.”
