Police seize real gun disguised as Nerf toy in North Carolina drug raid

The Catockba County Sheriff’s Office said the Glock 19 pistol, with a 50-round drum magazine, was painted blue and orange and looked like a toy with the Nerf logo. News release on facebook.

The firearms ranged between 20 guns, a pistol, rifle and shotgun – which investigators found during a house search on Wednesday, as well as cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana. Police also seized approximately $ 2,300 in cash.

“These types of firearms, which are not illegal, belong to law enforcement,” the release said. “Firearms, in general, are usually seized in combination with searches where narcotics felony is present.”

According to the release, 35-year-old Damian Alonzo Burch of Catawba was charged with misleading possession of cocaine, felony possession and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

CNN is trying to reach him or a lawyer representing him for comment.

Catawba County Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Aaron Turk said Burch was released on $ 20,000 unsecured bond on Wednesday. Burch was formally advised of the charges first presented in Catawba County District Court on Thursday.

Turk said he did not know when Burch’s next court date is or if he was presented by a lawyer. He said investigators have no motive as to why the gun was made like a nap toy.
