According to West, both he and his wife Angela have Kovid-19. West said Angela had been vaccinated against the coronavirus, but she was not.
According to an official Facebook post, “Colonel West is suffering from low-grade fever and mild body aches.” “Out of concern for public health, Colonel West is suspending events in person until a clear indication is received.”
Later on Saturday, West said he and his wife completed a monoclonal antibody treatment and are “in the observation period.”
He protested against Governor Greg Abbott’s COVID-19 restrictions and mask mandates last fall, along with other prominent conservatives, and sued the governor for expanding early voting amid the pandemic.
West announced his bid for governor on July 4, setting up a primary challenge against Abbott, who is seeking a third term and was endorsed by Trump.
“Cecilia and I are sending best wishes to Alan and Angela. You are in our prayers. Get well soon,” Abbott tweeted Saturday.
