The Cook County Sheriff’s Office told CNN in a statement that it was informed that she had left the facility around Tuesday afternoon, and electronic surveillance workers immediately began trying to find her location.
“The employee attempted to contact Hartman using the phone built into the device, but Hartman did not respond,” the statement said. “Electronic Monitoring Unit investigators found that his device indicated that he was traveling in the direction of O’Hare International Airport.”
According to the statement, as investigators turned to the airport, the Sheriff’s Office informed the Chicago Police Department that Hartman headed to the airport. Around 1:38 pm, police were informed that Hartman was close to Terminal 1.
The statement said an alarm was activated on the device monitoring his ankle and he was detained by Chicago police officers. Hartman said that did not enter any of the safe areas.
Hartman is currently being held on two bonds, Ro-Taylor told CNN in an email on Thursday. He is charged with $ 100,000 to avoid his arrest on Tuesday and another “no bond” for violation of his parole terms and bail bond.
“Even though he was able to post bond on a case, he would not be released because of ‘no bond’,” Roe-Taylor said.
Hartman is scheduled to return to court on March 22 and again on April 7, according to Roe-Taylor.
On Wednesday, Roe-Taylor said that Hartman continues to fight over mental health issues and characterized his actions that led to his arrest as a leave on Tuesday.
“She continues to struggle as a homeless person within a system that has not been adequately addressed to render her mentally Ms. Hartman. Prior to this arrest, Ms. Hartman has been, for the past year and a half, cooperative. And was stable without., “Parle Roe-Taylor wrote in an email to CNN on Wednesday.
Roe-Taylor wrote, “Unfortunately, relaps are sometimes part of the course of treatment. Relaps must be addressed through treatment, not punitively.”
Roe-Taylor said that Hartman is a non-violent person “who has not shown a risk for harming others.”
Airport arrest trend
Her streak continued at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. On 14 August, Hartman was warned for attempting to enter the security checkpoint without a ticket. Twelve days later, he was arrested at the airport terminal for criminal trespass. A day later, Hartman was again seen walking around a security checkpoint, Phoenix police said.
He was again arrested in O’Hare in January 2018, when British authorities detained him in London. She was charged with a misdemeanor count and a felony count of theft when she managed to travel from Chicago to London without a passport or boarding pass.
Reporters reporting after her arrest said that the success of her aggressive maneuvers depended on her ability to blend into the crowd as a seemingly harmless, elderly white woman.
