Tom Brady says he’s open to playing past 45 ahead of his 10th Super Bowl
The legendary quarterback said on Monday – which marked a Super Bowl opening night snapped amid an epidemic – that he might as well have a few more seasons and would “definitely” play from the last 45.
“It’s a physical game and I just have the point of view that you never know when that moment is,” said Brady, whose Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV on Sunday.
“It is a contact sport and there is a lot of training that goes into it. And then, to keep doing it, one has to commit 100 percent by itself.”
Brady could win a seventh Super Bowl ring in Tampa this weekend, as well as possibly lead the Bucs to a second championship and the first time since 2003.
He will compete in his third Super Bowl competition in four seasons and, since the age of 40, is leading the NFL with 47 wins.
Brady would overtake Michael Jordan for the seventh title, with the NBA winning six championships between 1991 and 1998.
“One of my sports idols, Michael, I think he’s very incredible,” Brady said.
“For me, it’s about being part of a lot of great teams. The opportunity to play in this game means a lot to me.
“We’re one game away from the end goal in this game. And I’ve been part of that end goal six times. So they are all different. They all mean a little different to me. They are all very unique in their own way. .And this time it will be good to complete it.
“I don’t compare them to other times. They were all magical moments in my life and no one could ever take me away from them. And hopefully we can make this season stronger and win the Super Bowl. That’s why we are here. “
Brady will go up this weekend against Patrick Mahomes – the 18-year-old quarterback his junior expects back-to-back titles from the majors.
It is the first Super Bowl match between the winning quarterbacks from the last two Super Bowls Brady won in 2019 with the New England Patriots.
Brady said, “I really admire Patrick for the kind of player he is. His team has a great command. I know that his teammates are playing with him. He’s got great charisma.”
“And I think when I look at Patrick, I see someone who, again – none of these moments are too big for him.
“And the time I’ve got the chance to talk off the field, I’ve definitely enjoyed it. And he’s a great player. I know it’s still at the beginning of his career, but what he accomplished Yes, that’s going to happen in the end. Depends on it. ”
