Trump chose Lake in a packed Republican field that also includes state Treasurer Kimberly Yee, former Congressman Matt Salmon and Arizona Board of Regents member Karin Taylor Robson.
In a statement announcing his support for Lake, Trump said his years as a broadcast journalist meant that “some people can take on fake news media like Qari.”
“She is strong on crime, will defend our border, the Second Amendment, the military and veterinarians, and will fight to restore electoral integrity (both past and future!),” he said. “She’s against COVID lockdowns, cancel culture, and will end the ‘wake up’ curriculum in our schools. She’ll do a far better job than RINO Governor Doug Ducey – not even a contest!”
Lake Fox is a former television anchor for 10 Phoenix who entered politics this year, starting her campaign with media-bashing videos and an appetite for Trump’s culture wars.
He has raided against the mask mandate, called for aggressive border enforcement and promised to “dismantle the wall of damnation”. She has also reiterated Trump’s unfounded lies about electoral fraud, calling for the annulment of Arizona’s results in the 2020 general election – something that is not legally possible.
