Lovato has spoken out before suffering an etching disorder and substance abuse and is now opening up about how – when he was in recovery of those things before his overdose – he was “sad.”
“Regardless of what other people may have said or done, my actions put me on the seat that is in front of you today,” she told BBS. “Unfortunately no one can answer for my extreme but me.”
Lovato said that he is not completely sober, but a “California somber”. She still drinks occasionally and smokes some marijuana.
“I really don’t feel comfortable explaining the parameters of my recovery to people,” she said. “Because I don’t want people to look at my standards of safety and think about what works for them … because it can’t.”
At this point, Lovato says, he is in a much better place.
“I feel great,” he said. “I have felt more joy in my life than I have ever felt because I am not calming myself down or amputating any part.”
